     Business Owners have the right to recover expenses due to theft and destruction of property from dishonest employees and customers.  For example, if a customer opens a package and steals the merchandise, they not only stole the product, but destroyed the packaging, rendering it unsaleable.  You have the right to demand civil recovery. Most companies charge the shoplifter a fee of $500.00 plus the cost of the replacing the product.
